Want to learn how to grow delicious and nutritious mushrooms in your own yard? Uncle Sassy Farms is teaching an introductory class this May as the gardening season is ramping up. Backyard Mushroom Gardening is a family friendly class that will introduce intrepid green thumbs to the propagation of outdoor mushroom crops. Students will learn about the mushroom life-cycle, components of mushroom garden beds, "seeding" a bed, monitoring growth, pest management and harvesting. Mushroom varieties will be discussed and observed. Students will leave with a garden kit (spawn, straw, woodchips) to start their own backyard mushroom garden!
